Let me introduce you to Nicohl Asher, the bassist and grounding point of this band.
We call Nicohl "the Brain" because of her exceptional intellect. She has a degree in biology, and began her adult life as a chemist. Her favorite job was working in the lab (pharmaceutical, not meth), and she owns her own medical device consulting company. She highlights the obvious and reins in our artistic excesses when we go too far. The bass is her perfect instrument, giving us roots and keeping us firmly planted. Here are a few other things you’ll love about her:
- She’s rooted now, but moved so much as a kid that she went to 4 different high schools in two different states and lived in 8 different houses in 3 years. Her parents were not in the military; they were just crazy.
- When she was little, she couldn’t say her name and called herself Nuck, which became the name of her recording studio, Nuck and Futz Productions, Inc. (Yes, that means Jared is Futz and together they are F’n Nuts.)
3. Growing up, you would find Nicohl protecting home plate or the soccer goal (she doesn’t like to run). She got a college scholarship for soccer and almost made the US women’s team as a goalkeeper.
4. She was off to join the military after high school (cuz she didn’t want to pay for med school) but was injured before she could get to boot camp, so no med school for her. Apparently, she was not supposed to be a doctor but a bassist in a rock band.
5. If she were an animal, she would be a wolf. Sometimes a lone wolf, sometimes running with the pack. In her next life, she wants to come back as her own dog. You probably would too if you saw how spoiled her dog is.
