Let me introduce myself, Amanda Webb, the megaphone of this band.
My nickname is Face after the character “Face” from the TV show “The A Team.” Appropriately named for fronting this band, my love for putting on a great show, and having rizz (charisma), as they say these days. There’s no place I'd rather be than in front of a captivated audience; the larger, the better. Here’s a few other things you might find interesting about me:
- I collect songs from all over the world, languages, and eras. For everything, there is a season. I have classical, jazz, ska, heavy, light, broadway, rap, tejano, electronic, and zydeco, etc. There is zero genre of music that I do not enjoy. Music is a reflection of culture, tastes, and influences that I find incredibly interesting as a musicologist. The absolute only thing I can’t enjoy is negative messaging. Aside from that, bring it.
2. I’ve had long hair forever. I call it hair for lazy people—no cuts or styling, just go. Yes, it gets in the way sometimes, but that’s what hats are for. I love hats.
3. My favorite job ever was homeschooling my 5 boys. I did it for 6 years while they were in elementary school. It was a hella lot of work, but the rewards were immeasurable.
4. My first instrument was the drums. I started playing in 4th grade and marched in almost a hundred parades with a fife and drum core. The group got to march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, but I was too young at the time and got cut from the trip. (sad face)
5. Once upon a time, I attempted to be a worship pastor. The two churches I applied to wouldn’t hire me because I was a woman with young children, and “who would raise my kids”? (But who’s going to pay their bills?) A few days later, I got invited to play cover songs in bars. (This was something I had never done before.) I’ve been playing gigs ever since. I still love Jesus, but I’m incredibly grateful to be where I am today. I’m so glad it worked out the way it did.
