Awards are something that are hard-won and only given to the best of the best. Sure, there are always outliers, like when Jethro Tull beat out Metallica for the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Grammy. (We don’t speak of that.) But by and large, it’s the worthy that win—that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. And so it must be, because Sustayn just became a finalist in 5 categories of the International Singer Songwriter Association Awards!
Of course, you knew all along that this would be the case because you believe in how great this music and message are. And I wish I had your same assuredness, but for me, there is always a small lingering doubt that some crazy jazz flute player might beguile the judges into a twilight zone award. So far, that’s not been the case.
So off we go to Atlanta for the Finalist Awards in August!
The ISSA was established in 2018 to support, encourage, and inspire independent artists on a global scale. We expect a chance to meet the founder, Nashville songwriter Tamanie Dove. The association provides year-round visibility for its members (16,000 strong in 37 countries) of myriad genres through a vast network of social media platforms, radio stations, and industry resources. Previous winners of the ISSA Awards recounted their great experiences at the ceremony, with the organization in general, and how winning was able to amp up their careers. You can read more about it here: https://issasongwriters.com/the-issa-victory-lap/
We hope for the same!
This is how it works. Over the summer, the judges panel, made up of the last 2 years of winners, will take their time going over the finalist list to make their decisions in each category. In the meantime, we shall appeal to anyone we know who may be connected, and of course, pray fervently until the day arrives.
The annual event will be at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, August 24. The same venue where the prestigious BMI Awards are held. We will be treated like bona fide celebrities, as their website states: “This prestigious event features a plush red carpet entrance and gorgeous banners, complete with professional photographers and professional videographers, and is the talk of the town with several local celebrities on the red carpet conducting interviews with our finalists, which will be available for download for free.”
I think I can speak for all of us when I say we are ecstatic, completely awestruck, and over the moon to be a part of something of this magnitude.
Keep pulling for us; we’re going places for sure.
OMG, Now… what am I going to wear?!
